That right there is the real truth. We need to get past the who-hit-who-first and get to the getting along.
EDIT: Also - I know this is a controversial topic, but I'm searching for some sort of statscan report like this one - http://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/85-224-x/85-224-x2000010-eng.pdf - that backs up that 7of10 stat. Not to be pushy, but it doesn't sound right and I can't find anything to really back it up.
In any case, we should all do a better job at getting along and dealing with problems without violence.
Violence against men is as serious a social issue as vioence against women, but it receives zero awareness. Society needs to wake up to all the violence men encounter in their lives, and begin to put measures and controls in place to reduce this violence. In 70% of domestic violence cases women hit men first, but the media only tells us about the female victims. And when a man defends himself in a DV case, he is looked at as the perpetrator, not the victim, and HE is arrested and has HIS name splashed through the mud. Society and the justice system need to catch up with reality. Awareness is everything. Spread the word. Spread the truth about domestic violence.
